About

Oriana Ivaniuta

Originally from Ukraine, Oriana Ivaniuta was born and raised in Paris where she studied ceramics at the Auguste Renoir applied arts school.

In 2009, she moved to Quebec to further her ceramic studies at the Bonsecours ceramics center, affiliated with CÉGEP du Vieux Montréal. She earned her DEC in Métiers d'Art, ceramics option, in 2016.

She participated in Montreal's Salon des métiers d'art in December 2016, editions 28, 29 and 30 of the 1001 Pots festival in Val David, and the Parcours Céramique exhibitions in 2019 and 2020.

One of her collections, in translucent porcelain, is inspired by several traditional Ukrainian symbols. These decorative elements, found notably in traditional embroidery and costumes, each carry a significance that goes beyond mere ornament.

Through her work, she seeks to reconnect with imagination and the infinite universe of cerebral wandering — a more childlike, traditional and positive universe.
